“Hagiyakiya x Multiply”

This “Hagiyakiya webshop” was started because I took an interest in Japanese ceramic pottery culture.
This Japanese pottery culture was growing up with Japanese Matcha Tea ceramony, call “Sado” culture.
Tea masters wanted excelent “Tea tools” for example Teabowl, Water container, and the potter has created more excelent tools for the demand.
They were always going to make better things, and also, the potter is proud to be a potter with like this culture.

We have been introduced you Hagi ware works as our pottery culture of hometown.
From now, we are intoroducing potter and their works to all over the world with Hagi works through the our homepage as an exhibition.
Before starting the exhibition, we are talking about Kilns and artists who are joining our special event.

 

Tamba ware popular young potter, Iyo Ohgami.

I met Ms. Iyo Ohgami who is a potter of Tamba ware Ohkuma kiln in Tachikui area.

 

She is making a work with a motif as a “Oni” like a demon or a “youkai” monster, and many works with a strong visual impact. Most of them have utility as tableware for daily use as teacups, teawares, guinomi sake cups and more.

 

Attractiveness of work such as becoming a decoration of a dragon when turning a cup upside down, unique spouts etc, her unique playfulness shakes the hearts of people with her works.
Many of her works express fantasy creatures and it seems to start moving even now, and each one is expressive and dynamic as if each one has a soul.

All works like her own children, she is made with her own energy to work one by one, so the time to workmanship is relatively long. Also, most of the work seems to go to her bride to the customer, so the opportunity to see a lot of works of Ms. Iyo Ohgami is so rare.

 

As her work as well as her personality is loved by everyone,
customers, people related Tamba ware, there are many fans of her.

 

We will hold a ceramic art exhibition by Ms. Iyo Ohgami who is known as a genius that Tamba ware area gave birth at this Hagiyakiya online store.
