Popular Potter Jin Hiraoka.

Jin Hiraoka who works in Wakayama prefecture.

“Hagiyakiya x Multiply”

This “Hagiyakiya webshop” was started because I took an interest in Japanese ceramic pottery culture.
This Japanese pottery culture was growing up with Japanese Matcha Tea ceramony, call “Sado” culture.
Tea masters wanted excelent “Tea tools” for example Teabowl, Water container, and the potter has created more excelent tools for the demand.
They were always going to make better things, and also, the potter is proud to be a potter with like this culture.

We have been introduced you Hagi ware works as our pottery culture of hometown.
From now, we are intoroducing potter and their works to all over the world with Hagi works through the our homepage as an exhibition.
Before starting the exhibition, we are talking about Kilns and artists who are joining our special event.

I have met the potter of Jin Hiraoka, an extremely popular potter in Wakayama Prefecture.
Jin Hiraoka is a potter with a large number of followers among ceramic artists who have more than 9,500 followers in the Instagram.

The fact that there are a lot of followers suggests that not more than 9,500 followers will be supported if not only their support for the work but also their own personality is wonderful.
Even if I look at the comments in the Instagram, he was one of the writers who would like to meet with us, inflating the delusion as being very unique and handsome.
I had business in Kyoto and I had plenty of time so I dared go to Wakayama by car.

It was my first time to visit Wakayama Prefecture for about 2 hours from Kyoto city center.
I went too far ahead a little, but he immediately got outside and gave me a guidance.
He was a nice guy as I imagined.

Jin Hiraoka has returnined to the kiln where his father was held after the training at Bizen-ware kiln, and started his ceramic work.
There is also a firewood kiln in the back of the workshop, and Yaki-shime etc. which he gained the technique by Bizen kiln.

It seems that he had conflicts, such as learning Bizen-ware at the beginning of independence and returning to Wakayama, making bizen yaki at Wakayama, but now he is creating his works in the style of “Yaki-shime works of Jin Hiraoka” and those works are gathering support from the many people.
Recently he was asked by the assistant who likes Karatsu-ware, and seems to be trying to create glazed pottery.

Before visiting the kiln, there is a Sake cup call “Guinomi” of Jin Hiraoka in the work which was interested in the Instagram.
I myself like Sake Japanese liquor, but also it is transmitted from his work that he likes drinking Sake Japanese liquor.
The Sake cups made by people who love drinking are different in shine compared to works made by those who do not.

As shown in this time, “mentori” the carved shape Sake cup, the sweetness of a white glaze that is like a “kairaghi”, there is something that tickle the heart of alcoholic drinker.
Jin Hiraoka himself make a hashtag called “Banshakubu” in instagram.

He was a potter who made a nice works with a very attractive personality.
I’d like to see him again.

We will show you Jin Hiraoka’s works at our Hagiyakiya on-line shop soon.
