“Hagiyakiya x Multiply”

This “Hagiyakiya webshop” was started because I took an interest in Japanese ceramic pottery culture.
This Japanese pottery culture was growing up with Japanese Matcha Tea ceramony, call “Sado” culture.
Tea masters wanted excelent “Tea tools” for example Teabowl, Water container, and the potter has created more excelent tools for the demand.
They were always going to make better things, and also, the potter is proud to be a potter with like this culture.

We have been introduced you Hagi ware works as our pottery culture of hometown.
From now, we are intoroducing potter and their works to all over the world with Hagi works through the our homepage as an exhibition.
Before starting the exhibition, we are talking about Kilns and artists who are joining our special event.

 

Karatsu-ware potter Yotaro Fujinoki at Dohei Kiln.

I met Mr. Yotaro Fujinoki who is the Karatsu ware artist at Dohei kiln.

Mr. Yotaro Fujinogi was a recommendation from a customer who visits Hagiyakiya real shop at Ube often.
When visiting other than Hagi ware artists, my own labor and time are limited.
Most of them are my favorite potters, someone’s recommendation,
I am going around the kiln based on various reasons.

Basically the kiln is not located in residential area, so in particular West Japan will be traveling by private car and I headed to Dohei kiln to rely on car navigation system.
Although it was a place that seemed nothing when looking on the map, but there was a sign board written as “Dohei kiln” at the branch points, we could reach the kiln as invited to it.

Going up a little narrow road,there was Yotaro Fujinoki and his father Dohei Fujinoki and their family houses and studios.
The place was made by Dohei Fujinoki and his family included Yotaro themselves.

Mr. Yotaro Fujino has created many instrument series such as Piano and Trumpet and more, but he doesn’t play those instruments, he likes expressing the interestingness of the form of the instruments.
For one instrument I got an explanation that flowers can be put as vessels and be sure to include elements as ” Utsuwa”.
We also visited the climbing kiln, in collaboration with his father Dohei Fujinoki and their staff, climbing the kiln seems to be burned several times a year.
There were lots of works and styles, and I was able to feel that he ias enjoying making works.
