“Hagiyakiya x Multiply”

This “Hagiyakiya webshop” was started because I took an interest in Japanese ceramic pottery culture.
This Japanese pottery culture was growing up with Japanese Matcha Tea ceramony, call “Sado” culture.
Tea masters wanted excelent “Tea tools” for example Teabowl, Water container, and the potter has created more excelent tools for the demand.
They were always going to make better things, and also, the potter is proud to be a potter with like this culture.

We have been introduced you Hagi ware works as our pottery culture of hometown.
From now, we are intoroducing potter and their works to all over the world with Hagi works through the our homepage as an exhibition.
Before starting the exhibition, we are talking about Kilns and artists who are joining our special event.

 

I have met a Shigaraki ware potter, Mr. Katsunori Sawa.
He made me worry very much about the way to his pottery, and I received a message from him many times.
I went by car to the place where I can go by navigation, and he came to pick me up to his work place. Mr. Katsunori Sawa is such a nice person.

 

Passed in front of the climbing kiln, he showed me to the studio.
Although I was watching the work on the Internet etc., looking directly at Mr. Katsunori Sawa’s work, I was moved by its interest.

 

He has trained pottery in the Mino area.
He fused together the techniques of painting and the Oiba glaze in the Mino area cultivated during the training period with traditional Shigaraki ware, and created his own style.

Mr. Katsunori Sawa makes various works like an Oribe glaze, Shigaraki-yaki’s “Yakishime” and painted tablewares. But we can see the consistent style of “Katsunori Sawa”. All of them are certainly his works, everything is wonderful.

 

Mr. Katsunori Sawa himself is very friendly and I was able to talk to him without feeling nervous.
Although it is charming style, cool man, Mr. Katsunori Sawa’s work is a writer who feels very attractive to the personality of the impression as it is.
Mr. Katsunori Sawa’s work is a charming style though cool, I could feel the same inspiration as Mr. Katsunori Sawa’s personality from his works.
I’d like to introduce his work on this website soon.

 

Shiga prefecture, Gifu prefecture Aichi prefecture has a history of pottery in Japan very old, so I would like to make time again and go around there.
