We are pleased to introduce “Do-ran” (Soil Storm), the debut chawan by Taro Miwa of the Miwa Kiln.
At his first solo exhibition held last year at Nihombashi Mitsukoshi, Miwa made a striking debut that challenged and redefined the very concept of the tea bowl within Japan’s long ceramic history.
While the overall presence of the work is deeply impactful, the Do-ran series embodies the raw strength and beauty of clay, combined with glazes of mysterious radiance born from countless cycles of trial and error. These works bring together multiple elements into a truly captivating series.
