Group work of woodfire climbing kiln

Today, March 16, 2023, from 9:00 a.m., a group work firing by young Hagi potters is being held at the Hagi City Pottery Village Park.

Each potter brought their own works and put the Noborigama kiln.
From 9:00 to midnight on the 16th, firewood is put into the “Ooguchi” at the bottom of the climbing kiln, the temperature of the entire kiln is gradually raised, and then firewood is fed from the side entrance called “yokodaki”. to directly raise the temperature of each room.

This kiln firing is in the park, so the everyone is free to visit, and you can see how Hagi ware is fired up, which you can’t usually see.

A few days after firing, the works are removed from the kiln, and this is also free to visit.

The artist will give you a direct explanation, so I think this is a great event for pottery lovers.
