Touri Yoshino, online exhibition from Sep 4th.

From September 4th, an exhibition of Hagi Yaki potter, Touri Yoshino.

After training for 10 years at 12th Saka Korai Zaemon, he became independent and made his own kiln in a land near Akiyoshidai.

Burning the works using a wood firing climbing kiln often results in failures.

In this time, ceramics can be made with stable firepower and elements such as gas kilns and electric kilns, and woodfiring can be said that it is a very inefficient pottery method for making works.

On the other hand, the flames and the uncertainties of the moments can cause chemical reactions, which can lead to wonderful works that the potter did not intend.

Until now, Tori Yoshino has barely paid attention to pottery contest, and even when he couldn’t make the work as he expected, he is particular about firing this firewood kiln and earnestly continues to make his works.

Nowadays, he is recognized as one of Hagi’s leading potters, and get attention of not only fans of pottery throughout Japan but also Japanese potters.

In this online solo exhibition, we compiled a video of the latest pottery landscape by Touri Yoshino and embedded the video on an exhibition’s page.

You can see the process of making soil, burning unglazed works “Suyaki”, sprinkle glaze, etc. that you can not usually see.

Please look forward this online exhibition, it will start to be posted at 0:00 on September 4, Japan time.
